No Sir, I Don’t Like It

September 28th, 2004 | Comments Off | Posted in Personal

Mr. HorseBleh, shitty day yesterday. Felt like crap, had a bad day at work, and then ended up with a flat tire. But life marches on. I got a buddy to drive me to Sahara Hotnights, and then four hot swedish chicks sporting American Apparel t-shirts rocked my ass all the way over to Cafe du Nord where the Advantage proceeded to drop a bomb oft known as Mega Man 2, Dr. Wiley. This morning I got my tire fixed, picked up my Ladykillers DVD at Cosco, and what’s more, I found me a nice Mr. Horse action figure (see photo). I feel like a new man.

I made a word to give this state a name, this game a guess
I call it “sluttering” it means as little as your little test
You are your worst revenge your very means, they have no ends
This is a story you won’t tell the kids we’ll never have

New Look!

Hey all-

I’ve updated the look and feel of the site. The site is now fully XHTML compliant and should work well with or without CSS. Thanks to Matt for his help with CSS and his zenlike “semantic web”.

This is a work in progress and there are alot of bugs to be worked out. The site has switched to using MovableType’s dynamic generation of archive templates, so that alone will cause plenty of problems, I’m sure. Send any problems you find my way. Thanks.

Ted Leo!!!

I found an advance copy of the new Ted Leo album online. Don’t worry, I have eMusic and Lookout! is on there so I’ll get it through legal means when it comes out. Judge not, lest… well you know. Anyways, the addition of this and the (old) Shams record brings my playlist to:

  • Bart DavenportGame Preserve
  • Hot Water MusicThe New What Next
  • Jim GuthrieNow, More Than Ever
  • Neko CaseCanadian Amp
  • Of MontrealSatanic Panic in the Attic
  • Ted Leo & the PharmacistsShake the Streets
  • The Arcade FireFuneral
  • The CastanetsCathedral
  • The ShamsTake Off
  • Viva VoceLovers, Lead the Way!

TED FUCKING LEO! He’s coming in November; I’ve seen him three times before and even so, I can’t wait. The new album sounds great at first pass; Me and Mia is glowing in the light of full production, and Bleeding Powers sounds absolutely amazing with the Pharmacists. Yay!

Well, I hope everyone had a happy laybor daybor. I came back to work on the Tuesday after labor day and immediately saw like 5 people wearing white pants in the cafeteria. Where have our standards gone, people?

Here’s what I’m listening to right now:

  • Bart DavenportGame Preserve
  • Hot Water MusicThe New What Next
  • Jim GuthrieNow, More Than Ever
  • Neko CaseCanadian Amp
  • Of MontrealSatanic Panic in the Attic
  • The Arcade FireFuneral
  • The CastanetsCathedral
  • Viva VoceLovers, Lead the Way!

Thanks to Kevin for some new (old) records.

Let’s see, what’s new. Well, there’s been this whole debate about Bush’s war record and the authenticity of these CBS documents. I’d be a damn hypocrite if I didn’t say “who cares?”. People, can we please focus on how his current administration is screwing things up? What is this fascination with a 35 year old war, on both sides of the spectrum? Also, if you missed the Chris Matthews vs. Zell Miller debacle, you must check that out. Also, I caught the Daily Show last night in which Jon Stewart awarded Robert Novak the Congressional Medal of Douchebag. Priceless.

Oh, well I went to a couple shows. The Black Keys were of course awesome; very juicy. Nedelle & Thom were, eh, OK. I had issues with their setlist. Plus it was like 200 degrees inside the Hemlock Tavern. Ironically, it seems Nedelle googled herself (her words!!!! grr) and found my blog entry about Fragile Wrists. Wu was appropriately embarassed. Good stuff.

I’ve been experimenting with Ventrilo. Check it out if you haven’t heard of it, it’s an amazingly fast and simple voice-over-ip freeware suite. The Spiders are using it for talking real time while playing iRO. Speaking of iRO, the Amatsu update is tonight, so the world should be significantly different come tommorrow. That’s always fun.

Until next time…
