Well, I hope everyone had a happy laybor daybor. I came back to work on the Tuesday after labor day and immediately saw like 5 people wearing white pants in the cafeteria. Where have our standards gone, people?
Here’s what I’m listening to right now:
- Bart Davenport – Game Preserve
- Hot Water Music – The New What Next
- Jim Guthrie – Now, More Than Ever
- Neko Case – Canadian Amp
- Of Montreal – Satanic Panic in the Attic
- The Arcade Fire – Funeral
- The Castanets – Cathedral
- Viva Voce – Lovers, Lead the Way!
Thanks to Kevin for some new (old) records.
Let’s see, what’s new. Well, there’s been this whole debate about Bush’s war record and the authenticity of these CBS documents. I’d be a damn hypocrite if I didn’t say “who cares?”. People, can we please focus on how his current administration is screwing things up? What is this fascination with a 35 year old war, on both sides of the spectrum? Also, if you missed the Chris Matthews vs. Zell Miller debacle, you must check that out. Also, I caught the Daily Show last night in which Jon Stewart awarded Robert Novak the Congressional Medal of Douchebag. Priceless.
Oh, well I went to a couple shows. The Black Keys were of course awesome; very juicy. Nedelle & Thom were, eh, OK. I had issues with their setlist. Plus it was like 200 degrees inside the Hemlock Tavern. Ironically, it seems Nedelle googled herself (her words!!!! grr) and found my blog entry about Fragile Wrists. Wu was appropriately embarassed. Good stuff.
I’ve been experimenting with Ventrilo. Check it out if you haven’t heard of it, it’s an amazingly fast and simple voice-over-ip freeware suite. The Spiders are using it for talking real time while playing iRO. Speaking of iRO, the Amatsu update is tonight, so the world should be significantly different come tommorrow. That’s always fun.
Until next time…
